Tom Alter Tour, April 6-10 2026
Academic Freedom, Union Rights, & the Fight for Free Speech
Help Build the Tom Alter CT Tour at March 28 and After!
From April 6 through April 9, CCLDC will be touring Tom Alter, a Texas professor who was fired for political speech, but intends to defeat the MAGA New McCarthyism with not only a union-funded legal case but also by taking the road in a national campaign in defense of free speech, academic freedom, union rights, and the rightto protest. Alter is a historian of labor and working-class protest movements that advocates building the most powerful mass movement and determined defense campaigns as part of the effort to stop the MAGA drive to consolidate authoritarianism. He is a scholar who teaches specifically about our past defeats, but also our victories in previous periods of repression. The CT Civil Liberties Defense Committee sees this state tour as an important vehicle for building our movements and increasing our capacity to fight back.
